Events

The Colorado Academy of Family Physicians hosts a number of events that students and residents are able to attend, including:

Lunchtime Speakers

The Colorado Academy of Family Physicians brings speakers and a catered lunch twice a year to both the University of Colorado and Rocky Vista University. Past topics have included marijuana, LGBT medicine, Patient Centered Medical Homes and the Tar Wars Program.

Residency Presentations

Representatives from the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians visit each of the family medicine residencies throughout the year. Residents are able to learn more about involvement with the CAFP, and share their concerns about family medicine, and how the CAFP can help.

Student & Resident Networking Evening

This event, held once a year, is an opportunity for students and residents to gather and discuss family medicine. Students can hear about different residency programs and why residents chose to go into family medicine. Residents are able to share information about their residency programs and their passion for family medicine.

Student & Family Medicine Leaders Networking Event

This event, held once a year, is an opportunity for medical students to meet with family medicine leaders from across Colorado and hear their stories. Students will get an idea of many different career opportunities, from urban practice to rural practice to academics and research.

National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students

In conjunction with the AAFP’s National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students, the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians hosts an evening networking happy hour for all Colorado attendees.

Thanks to all of the attendees who joined us this year! We will have a call for student and resident delegates, and details about the 2017 event, in the spring.

Colorado Academy of Family Physicians Annual Summit

Students and residents are invited to attend the CAFP Annual Summit. Our conference is an excellent opportunity for students and residents to get additional hands-on education and network with family physicians from across the state.

Registration fees are $25 per day. Scholarships are available to cover up to $600 in expenses, including hotel and travel fees.
