CAFP Joins CHPC Letter Advocating for Collaborative Healthcare Reforms
In collaboration with the Colorado Health Policy Coalition (CHPC), the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP) has joined a collective letter addressed to Colorado’s Congressional delegation. The letter emphasizes our shared commitment to ensuring access to affordable, comprehensive healthcare for all Coloradans, fortifying the healthcare safety net, and safeguarding Colorado’s economic and public health infrastructure.
The CHPC letter, addressed to Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper and Representatives Diana DeGette, Joe Neguse, Jeff Hurd, Lauren Boebert, Jeff Crank, Jason Crow, Brittany Petterson, and Gabe Evans, underscores the following priorities:
- Ensure Access to Healthcare for All Coloradans: All Coloradans must have reliable and affordable access to care to prevent worsening health outcomes.
- Fortify the Healthcare Safety Net: Strengthen programs to support uninsured and underinsured individuals and ensure access to essential care.
- Invest in Public Health and Prevention: Support initiatives addressing root causes of chronic conditions and pandemic threats to reduce costs and improve community well-being.
- Protect Our Economy: Preserve the healthcare sector’s economic contributions and prevent job losses and financial strain on families.
- Empower Rural Communities: Stabilize rural healthcare providers to maintain critical access to care in underserved areas.
- Recognize the Interconnected Nature of Healthcare: Thoughtful, measured policy changes are essential to avoid unintended ripple effects that destabilize the broader healthcare system.
The letter demonstrates the coalition’s readiness to collaborate constructively with lawmakers, leveraging its members’ expertise and track record of advancing innovative healthcare solutions. By emphasizing the consumer, provider, and economic impacts of policy changes, the coalition aims to support a more equitable and sustainable healthcare system for all Coloradans.
CAFP is proud to stand alongside a broad coalition of healthcare organizations committed to improving access to quality care and supporting the health and economic well-being of Colorado communities.
