Colorado Academy of Family Physicians Supports Colorado Medicaid Expansion
Patient Centered Medical Homes - the Cost-Effective Solution to Meet New Demand
DENVER The Colorado Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP) welcomed the announcement from Gov. Hickenlooper that his administration will support expanded Medicaid coverage in Colorado, which will extend coverage to approximately 160,000 additional Coloradans.
"The Colorado Academy of Family Physicians has a long standing commitment to healthcare access for all Coloradans," said Robert Brockmann, MD, MS, FAAFP, president, Colorado Academy of Family Physicians. "Our organization was the first medical society in the state to support expanding Medicaid eligibility to increase coverage of more Coloradans. This effort will provide health care insurance to many thousands of previously uninsured, low income Coloradans, and is a major step in the right direction. When coupled with the health insurance exchange where affordable private insurance will be available, we hope nearly every Coloradan will have health insurance," he added.
