Session 2: Consequences of Hormone Insufficiencies – Testosterone et al.

Speaker: Gayle Frazzetta, MD, FAAFP, CCD, C-ABHRT

Dr. Frazzetta is a board certified family practice physician and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. She has additional training in bone health and osteoporosis, being a Certified Clinical Densitometrist. Her private practice does over 1700 DXA’s annually. She is also an expert in hormone therapy for men and women, having received additional expert certification training in this as well. She has given many local and national presentations. Dr. Frazzetta was awarded the Copic Insurance 2019 Humanitarian of the Year for the state of Colorado. She received this prestigious award for many years of advocacy within the local school district for sexuality education and concussion management of student athletes. As a multi-modality specialist, she is able to address patients’ health needs in a more comprehensive way and is dedicated to helping others improve their health and well-being using an evidence based approach.

Objectives

  • Understand women have increased risks of cardiovascular disease, osteoporotic fractures, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, diabetes, breast cancer, colon cancer and increased mortality due to the misunderstanding and misguided fear of sex hormones.
  • Describe the multi-system impact of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone insufficiencies on chronic disease processes.
  • Review the impact of osteoporosis and fragility fracture on morbidity and mortality.
  • Review the current endocrinology and menopause society guidelines.
  • Review differences in outcomes between synthetic and bioidentical hormones.
