Guidance for Upcoming Travel Season: Expanding Measles Outbreak in Texas & New Mexico
As the measles outbreak continues, the CDC and CDPHE issued this health alert for physicians and other clinicians to consider measles as a diagnosis in anyone with a fever and a generalized maculopapular rash with cough, coryza, or conjunctivitis who has recently traveled internationally, or domestically to a region with a known measles outbreak, or has other known or suspected exposure to measles. |

This ECHO series offers access to neurology specialists, which will enhance participants’ diagnostic precision and empower them to deliver timely, effective neurologic care. Practical, case-based sessions will enable providers to learn to differentiate presentations that can be confidently addressed in primary care from those requiring subspecialty referral. Designed to foster collaboration between primary care and neurology, the series will provide opportunities for guidance, consultation and shared decision-making.
Colorado’s Primary Care Payment Reform Collaborative Releases Latest Recommendations Report
The Collaborative, which focuses on strengthening primary care through investment and advancement of value-based payment models, released their latest Recommendations Report. Topics in the report include marketplace dynamics, AI, and how value-based payments address health disparities. Read the report.

Speak Out: Tell Congress to Protect Medicaid
In late February, the House of Representatives passed a proposal that includes $880 billion in cuts for the committee that oversees Medicaid. Use this Speak Out (login required) to let your members of Congress know the devastating effects these funding cuts would have on patients and communities. As the March 14 deadline for a federal funding package approaches, Congress remains engaged in negotiations to avoid a government shutdown and address key healthcare priorities. While discussions continue, AAFP is actively advocating for family medicine and patient care in the funding package. |
State Advocacy Updates
HB25-1176 Behavioral Health Treatment Stigma for Providers
CAFP’s bill to remove outdated and stigmatizing behavioral health questions from Colorado’s medical licensure process is making progress! It passed out of the House March 4, was recently introduced in the Senate, and is now scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee April 3.
SB25-083 Limitations on Restrictive Employment Agreements
CAFP’s legislation to limit restrictive employment agreements, particularly covenants not to compete, passed out of the Senate March 12, was introduced in the House, and has been assigned to the House Business Affairs & Labor Committee. We will share updates as they become available.

AAFP’s National Conference of Constituency Leaders (NCCL) is April 24-26 in Kansas City, MO, and is a unique opportunity to grow as a leader and advocate for family medicine.
